# xcode/unused-assets

> Finds asset sets that no source or Xcode build setting names.

Finds asset sets that no source or Xcode build setting names.

Part of the [`xcode`](/reference/configurations/xcode/) configuration, at the `all` [level](/start/concepts/#levels). It runs at the `commit` [stage](/start/concepts/#stage), once per scope. gspot runs this check itself.

## Why

An asset nobody names ships in the app for nothing.

## What to do

Delete the asset, or name it in the code that loads it. For an asset that the app picks at run time, run `gspot ignore xcode/unused-assets --rule unused-asset --paths <glob> --reason "<why>"`.

## Example

An asset set that no source file or build setting names reports `unused-asset`. Delete it, or reference it where the app loads it.

## Turn it off

Turn it off for some files, with a reason:

```shell
gspot ignore xcode/unused-assets --paths "<glob>" --reason "<why>"
```
