# structure/shared-prefixes

> Finds sibling files that share a name prefix, such as `asset-card`, `asset-list`, and `asset-row`.

Finds sibling files that share a name prefix, such as `asset-card`, `asset-list`, and `asset-row`.

Part of the [`structure`](/reference/configurations/structure/) configuration, at the `all` [level](/start/concepts/#levels). It runs at the `commit` [stage](/start/concepts/#stage), once per scope. gspot runs this check itself.

## Why

Sibling files with one prefix split a single concept by suffix, and a folder of that name groups them.

## What to do

Move the files into a folder named after the shared prefix, or allow the set with a reason.

## Example

Sibling files `asset-card.ts`, `asset-list.ts`, and `asset-row.ts` share a repeated prefix. Move them into `asset/` with names `card.ts`, `list.ts`, and `row.ts`, then update imports.

## Turn it off

Turn it off for some files, with a reason:

```shell
gspot ignore structure/shared-prefixes --paths "<glob>" --reason "<why>"
```
