# site/linkinator

Serves the built site and follows every link between its pages, stylesheets, and fragments.

Part of the [`site`](/reference/configurations/site/) configuration, at the `recommended` [level](/start/concepts/#levels). It runs at the `push` [stage](/start/concepts/#stage), once per scope. It runs linkinator. It needs a build of the project.

## Why

A visitor hits a broken internal link before the author notices it.

## What to do

Fix the link, or the page it points at.

## Example

A link to `/missing/` reports a broken destination when that page does not exist. Point it at an existing page, or add the page.

## Turn it off

Turn it off for some files, with a reason:
