# javascript/knip

Finds files, exports, and dependencies nothing uses.

Part of the [`javascript`](/reference/configurations/javascript/) configuration, at the `recommended` [level](/start/concepts/#levels). It runs at the `push` [stage](/start/concepts/#stage), once per scope. It runs knip.

## Why

Teams read, maintain, and ship dead code for nobody.

## What to do

Delete what knip names. For a file loaded in a way that knip cannot trace, add an entry point in `tools.knip.entry`.

## Example

An export that no entry point uses reports a finding. Remove it, or list a dynamically loaded file in `tools.knip.entry`.

## Turn it off

Turn it off for some files, or one of its lint rules, with a reason:
