# files/v8r

> Validates each file that matches a SchemaStore schema, such as package.json, tsconfig.json, mise files, and workflows.

Part of the [`files`](/reference/configurations/files/) configuration, at the `recommended` [level](/start/concepts/#levels). It runs at the `push` [stage](/start/concepts/#stage), per file. It runs v8r. It needs network access.

## Why

A key the schema rejects never takes effect, and nobody notices until the expected behavior fails to appear.

## What to do

Fix the key v8r names, or map the file to its schema under tools.v8r.schema.

## Example

A JSON file with a string where its schema requires a boolean reports a mismatch. Replace the string with `true` or `false`.

## Turn it off

Turn it off for some files, or one of its lint rules, with a reason:
