# files/taplo-format

Checks that every TOML file parses and matches the taplo output under the shared settings.

Part of the [`files`](/reference/configurations/files/) configuration, at the `recommended` [level](/start/concepts/#levels). It runs at the `commit` [stage](/start/concepts/#stage), per file. It runs taplo. `gspot check --fix` fixes what it can.

## Why

One formatter keeps a diff about the values, not the spacing.

## What to do

Run `gspot check --fix`.

## Example

The TOML line `enabled=true` differs from the taplo output. Run `gspot check --fix` to get `enabled = true`.

## Turn it off

Turn it off for some files, or one of its lint rules, with a reason:

```shell
gspot ignore files/taplo-format --paths "<glob>" --reason "<why>"
gspot ignore files/taplo-format --rule <rule> --reason "<why>"
```
